History of Enterprise Support Systems

Enterprise Support Systems has been in the planning business since 1988. However, its planning and design expertise dates back to the mid-sixties from an impressive list of projects and engagements. The diversity and scope of these planning engagements spans businesses, government agencies, defense companies, universities and non-profit organizations. The engagements themselves dealt with planning issues covering operations, strategies, design, troubleshooting, resources, allocation, complex systems, product and market offerings, technology application and much more. The company started as a group within a Georgia-based company called Search Technology, Inc. Search Technology is a world-wide contract services company primarily doing business with the federal government.

Due to decline in the government market, Search Technology wanted to diversify into new markets. The company established a smaller group to spearhead this endeavor. The group was to develop products and services for entry into the commercial market. The primary mission of the new group was to create software tools and automate the technical planning expertise that was being sold by Search Technology. Enterprise Support Systems incubated as a start up company within Search Technology since 1991. In January 1996, the technology based Enterprise Support Systems was spun off from Search Technology, Inc. and became an independent company.

In addition to the sophisticated planning knowledge and expertise gained over the years, the company brought with it a worldwide collection of customers. These customers were already convinced that the products and services were the best on the market. These companies were already advocates for the product and business planning methodology found in the successful business planning books and the software itself. Today the company has retained its impressive customer base. It continues to be the leading provider of planning publications, PC and client/server software tools and an array of executive services.
